His predecessor, Steve Easterbrook, was credited fast food giants with global resurgence; Easterbrook term during nearly five years, the net profit increased by 33% to more than $6 billion in 2019, and doubled the price of the company shares. But he was fired with an employee of an Easter consensual relationship, a violation of company policy. As if in the top job came unexpectedly Kempczinski had the US promotion of his time runs McDonald were not enough to be a challenge, which has most of his first year as CEO of a global pandemic management spent. While McDonald’s has been open in the US since COVID-19 hit, the economic crisis that has accompanied a toll on business. In addition, workers some McDonald went on strike recently in protest at the company’s security measures, benefits and wage policy. He had published a few hours after McDonalds, which Kempczinski, 51, called perhaps the “worst” quarterly results in the history of the company’s sales fell by 24% -the CEO stepped time for a video call from his home in Chicago. One of the factors that have affected the bottom line for the quarter, the company has 12 million free meals donated to the front vorderster workers during the pandemic, at a cost of $30 million to $40 million. Kempczinski discussed with time as the behavior of consumers as a result of the pandemic, allegations of sexual harassment in McDonald’s restaurants is changing, and de-escalation face training for employees, customers, without wearing masks. What is your prediction for the image of public health for the future? One of the things we have to say to our team that until there is a vaccine, which are already widely used, we will be at this time of regional hot spots, keep the flare-up. Everything we have said now see that the model will likely be for next year. What is the status of stores in the United States? They never closed. One of the things that happened early on is that the government at the federal level basically called the companies that considered material entities. McDonald and restaurants were a significant business is considered, and consequently we have allowed to remain open, although in most cases, with drive-through only. So, with 95% of our restaurants in the United States through the great, great majority remains open one of our restaurants. How is the pandemic breakfast meeting? Breakfast was definitely part of the affected day. If you think about breakfast, lunch and dinner, breakfast is not particularly susceptible people to go to work. We have a little ‘work, looking at mobile data and monitoring of mobility: what we saw in the mobility data is in line with what we saw in the restaurant, which is essentially that move people in the morning was drastically. I was surprised to find out how large is your delivery business, is approaching $4 billion in sales. We have a very robust and rapidly growing delivery business. In recent years, it is a critical growth factor for us. In the future, the delivery is playing an increasingly important role in your company? I think it is. What we have seen, even in markets that kind of return to quote-unquote normal situation, the use of delivery tends to remain high. It is not only unique in restaurants. It’s kind of a macro trend that customers get the convenience of home delivery. All other changes in consumer behavior? The other thing that we see, the whole idea is contact will be one of the enduring things that remains with us to this pandemic. Both mobile app-use or the use of kiosks is ordering or we make the delivery that customers seem more and more service channels for that minimize contact with other people. I think this is something that will become permanent. What do you see the McDonalds experience look like in five years? I think in the US, it continues to pass drive-through and delivery will see important parts of it. But I’m not going to dine-in. I think there is still this kind of basic human need, to socialize with other people for food, so I think that the behavior will continue. There will be pronounced the way it was, but it will always be there. Want Bällebad ever build? [Laughs.] I do not know if we have the ball pits in our future. Probably there are some good public health reasons for us to do a lot of ball pits. Probably there are some good public health reasons for us to do a lot of ball pits. – Chris Kempczinski, McDonalds CEO is required masks begins August 1. What are the consequences for not wearing masks? Recently, an employee has been attacked in Oakland, Calif., After a customer asks to put on a mask. We try to strike a balance here. There is certainly a public health need for people to wear masks. There are also situations, [where people] who wear the mask with the police. We trained all of our restaurants, such as the de-escalation these types of situations to manage. But ultimately, if a customer is not willing to wear a mask, which is where we develop our team call the police and let them handle it. We do not want our team where their safety is endangered by the police in some way this can be brought into a situation. But I believe that the vast, vast majority of customers out there recognizes the importance for wear masks. The time to study, in collaboration with Columbia Business School in a number of on-line, to provide on-demand courses, on topics such as effective leadership, negotiation and customer-oriented marketing. For a long time, McDonald has played in our communities a greater role for more than the food. In many cases, we can square. We are the center of the community. We are less comfortable or excited to be a police force. We have different times and in different places that get asked that in such situations, if they are homeless, who are trying to use our restaurant as a place to wash them or whatever. Or we have cases that occur regularly, where people have overdosed. The whole parade of humanity. If you serve 70 million people a day, which is what we are doing globally, what you see is usually in McDonalds, what happens in society in general. And so we do the best we can with our team to ensure that they are able to serve our customers, but in the end we must ensure that our crew is safe and we do not want to be put in situations where they are at risk. It has led to some deficiencies of a pandemic? One of the things that is great for us since this whole pandemic, we have not had a single break of supply on food packaging, cleaning products, etc., which is quite extraordinary. In the US in particular, there have been some problems about six weeks or two months to be with a bottle of particular importance Beef neck. I am happy to tell you, those who have never hit us. It affects some of our competitors. There were industrial supply pressures used to produce proteins. They subsided, and while McDonald had problems with it. I suppose if you’re a McDonald’s supplier you are sure to do a job that has to be filled without errors. We made a point similar to that in a few different occasions. Sign up short by clicking the command here. There was an element that has gained in popularity over the past few months? The amazing thing is that the trend in the pandemic, the new consumers to our main menu. You see it in grocery buying behavior where these brands have seen, in some cases, people, years ago, I have to eat soup, and now all of a sudden people eat the soup again. They are favorites of confidence to see a similar request … Big Mac, Quarter Pounder, fries. They are less willing to try new things. They are less likely to go there and a bit ‘fancy new hamburger at McDonald test. And ‘happy with your menu offerings? Our menu is a very democratic process; whatever the customer wants is what I should be in this menu. If it’s not something that the customer wants, it is not on the menu. I am often asked why they are not on the menu? Why is this not on the menu? And my short answer to all those who, because they did not sell enough. We are completely agnostic. We focus on what sells. Beyond a soft spot for the old favorite, moving everyone? I think one thing that is a global trend we see in the US is to move the beef chicken protein consumption. We pay attention to that in a number of new markets because consumption patterns are changing. Last year, in fast food, it was the year of the chicken sandwiches. But the Washington Post explained too late to the game and it was pretty hard about your offer, calls it “an amalgam of various spare parts, can be found at the company garage.” Snap! That’s the beauty of working at McDonald’s, you never lack for attention. There will always get different perspectives. But we definitely work on ways that we can update and our chicken supply in the US is sufficient for the upgrade to say, we will be competition and innovation in the chicken. And I am sure that we will continue increasingly critical of how we do it. They are still working on the formulation of chicken sandwich? Well, I do not want to compete revealing secrets, but I think we feel good about where we are, and we look forward to bringing even more innovation in the chicken our customers. Given the impact on the environment, people should also eat meat at all? Well, this is a larger question that I think is not to answer for McDonalds. This is to respond to consumers. When consumers decide they do not want to eat meat, and they want to eat something different, it will serve. It is not our job to tell people what they should or should not eat. It is not our job to tell people what they should or should not eat. – Chris Kempczinski, CEO of McDonalds I understand you are a marathon runner. The McDonalds food is part of your diet? I ate five days a week, twice a day. I have every breakfast and lunch five days a week. I eat a lot ‘of McDonalds. I know my way around pretty good menu. So I have my days I’m going to eat healthy, and then I have my cheat day. And the nice thing on our menu you can do both. What is your healthy go-to-order? When you talk, breakfast, my go-to healthy would get a sandwich without bacon Egg McMuffin on it. And with this you could receive either a cup of coffee or a small diet coke. And that’s usually all I’m going to eat for breakfast. Lunch might be salad. It might be our fish fillet without salt and pepper on it. Double ketchup. Or could it be, if it is a cheat day, could be the Quarter Pounder. The CDC says that a third of Americans are obese and often it has been shown that consumption of fast-food to contribute to weight gain. There is much talk of values. And I know that the customers are, what they want. But how do you reconcile this with the fact that a quarter pounder with double cheese and a large chocolate shake for more than three quarters of the total recommended daily calorie intake, heavy on sodium and saturated fat? Our philosophy is that it is ultimately the customer’s choice. We put all our open Nutritionals, and so is prominent on the menu. It ‘a prominent place on the app, if you are able to purchase them. In essence, each of our contractual channels, you can see what nutritionals. And then a client who make these decisions, they need. For us is our commitment to make sure we are able to offer customers all the information they need, and in the end they will decide what they want to do. I understand it’s not an urban legend that there are specific reasons why Coca-Cola tastes better at McDonalds. You can check off a couple? We have a very close and special relationship with Coca-Cola. And it is to have the best tasting cola McDonald in our common interest to us. One of the things that is useful and why we are so good tasting of Coca-Cola products because of our band. We have in the back of our restaurants these tanks, we allow essentially have a better in our restaurants between the syrup and carbonated water mixing process of what someone else to do in the situation. And there’s a certain sweetness adjustment to melt the ice to compensate? It calls it the gold standard of the product with a process Cola, where we un’anche us. And we are working with Coca-Cola to ensure that what ultimately fountain machine comes out and reflects the gold standard in a customer’s cup. And that brings with it pinching, if necessary, the sweetness. Can you talk about how you follow a talented leader who was also very human? How would you approach this? were appointed at City Hall after the CEO, you talked about how emotional it was for you. What I tried to do with being honest with people and to begin a genuine part of it. And I did not try to speak in any kind of business to wrap or euphemisms or something. I mean, I just wanted to talk openly about how I felt conflicted because they considered the one hand, I have a friend Steve. He took me to the company. He has supported me. But then he made Steve made a mistake, and he made a mistake that CEOs should not do. So having this treasure of emotions that you do in any situation where someone is doing things that will surprise, disappoint. Steve spent 20 years with the company. So there was a lot of friendships that were built, but also for the same reason, I know a lot of people were very upset and disappointed. only a large article describes a nation of sexual harassment in the culture of many published McDonald points. McDonald does have a problem of sexual harassment in the restaurants? I’ve always heard of one of those situations, like me is disappointing because it flies completely in the face of what we are as a business. We stand for diversity, integration. We want to be a place that everyone feels welcome and that they are treated according to their skills and their contribution. Not for anything else. What is the role of management in the reaction? And ‘our responsibility to take action and make sure that what were the conditions for the situation that led to that we have to deal very quickly with it. And also as CEO of my duty it is to set the tone at the top. And I spend a lot of time just to make sure that people understand my expectations for the values. People understand my expectations of speaking when they see a person other than these values and give them the confidence that if they do, they will be protected and we go now to do with it. And that’s what I think we did, and that’s certainly what I will continue to do as CEO. You may face the last employee strikes over sick leave, health care, personal protective equipment and wages? I think all of them against pandemic makes a ton of sense that people are very concerned about their health. You want to make sure that when they go to work, they will be protected. I do not think any of us-to be included, even in a situation where you must choose between your health and with plans and get a paycheck. One of the misconceptions is that somehow another by this pandemic, the McDonalds workers have not been able to get sick pay. The vast majority of our restaurants offers health benefits for the crew working in the Restaurants. In the vast, vast majority of restaurants that people do not have to make that trade-off between security and get a paycheck. And personal protective equipment? Feel the company does a good job in providing workers? Yes. We have worldwide safety standards, and one of those who DPI crew must be worn in the restaurants needed. So that is a mask that is gloves. We ask the team and there are a number of methods to keep your hands to wash every hour. And if you look at the rate of infection looks at our restaurants compared to the general population, there are usually better than the general population. So it does not mean that we have become complacent about it. But I think certainly keeping our team a great job. One of the first things you did as CEO was to change ad agencies Wieden + Kennedy. How strong are you in advertising? Let me say this, my team will make sure that I have never participated in part of the advertisement. When I am involved in advertising, as a rule, this means that there is a problem. Or that something may not be as good as it should be. So I would say that like most things in my job, I’m not usually involved until there is a problem, then I highly involved. They spot 15 seconds that the focus of interest with the wonderful Scottish actor Brian Cox in succession on the ingredients. He does not seem like the most obvious choice for the voice McDonald ‘s at work. You always try to find something to stop or grab your attention. This is always a challenge in advertising. get to look like someone? And in many cases it comes to what little odd juxtaposition, it has generated interest. to have his voice, people either consciously or unconsciously know who he is, positioned side by side takes drugs does something unique and stylish you pay attention to this, which is why I think it worked. His mother was a kindergarten teacher. Have you ever go to a bad day and come home and I think that basically the same work? [Laughs.] It feels should be answered as a very dangerous question for me. I just want to say that, to build a feeling that I have the opportunity in the future in a very good way for the company. Just like my mother as a kindergarten teacher, she is on the future, I feel like my job it is also to look to the future as well.
