Mikey Williams Interview with Osaka Naomi: ‘We are young blacks athletes. We Spotlights On Us’

Naomi Osaka is one of the best tennis players in the world, two Grand Slam titles won in the last three years. Mikey Williams, a student increase in the second year of high school, is one of the best prospects of basketball in the country and made the recent wave expressed interest in a historic college black or Universities (HBCU) to participate rather than a traditional system of NCAA power over, They met to discuss pushing through protests this year and its long-term goals marked off the field. Mikey Williams: suggest your favorite tennis player Serena Williams. I’m not in that position yet where to compete against players who may look up. How does it feel? Naomi Osaka: It feels really crazy, because you grow up watching them. to be just for them, as an opponent is to see you very surreal. I feel like the dream of the moment and an out-of-body had happened to them in real life surely experience. What sport you play, they are compared to the person who is more like you and was always Serena for me. I want to be a good player enough to stand alone. I want to carve my legacy. MW: Someone is that I always watched LeBron James: I have to wear his jersey. After me and his son Bronny started playing together, I got it from stimulating human knowledge and can take place notes from him in a different way. While you are being treated outside the huge field for me: he created a school that has all these principles and to speak against injustice. Have the protests this summer to inspire blunt be inequality? NO: personally because COVID and quarantine, I could stay in a place that I have in my life for longer. But actually I flew with my friend in Minneapolis and we saw everything. It ‘was a moment that changes your life. I think that athletes are afraid of losing sponsors when they speak. For me it was really true, because most of my sponsors are Japanese. They probably have no idea what I’m talking about, and they could be upset. But there comes a time when you feel like you have to talk about what is right and what is important. MW: Yes. As a young athlete, we checked a lot. But last month, I cut my list of colleges down like five HBCUs take down five LABS [predominantly white institutions]. I hope that I can make a change in college sports. Many people think that they need to go to Duke, Kentucky and UCLA to get where they want to go. I have nothing against these schools or coaches. But we know that the only reason why we are looking at these schools, because we have the guidance. If some players take HBCU path, you could change the sport. NO: The day I wrote, my friend showed it to me, and he was excited like that. It has an impact anyway. MW: How is dark at international level? NO: Due to the tennis sport mostly white, I feel like as if you should not miss, sometimes a representative and for this reason, I feel. But it is a great source of pride. I feel like it gives me a lot of strength, and I feel more welcomed in some cities. MW: We are young blacks athletes. We spotlight on us. I want you to be a role model for someone. I hope to make his fortune, things such as building schools, to help children in need and put more people on HBCUs. It ‘very important that we understand our power. NO:. I want to continue to grow and not only called “tennis player” I hope to be able to do some interesting things in the future. MW: You have to be a piece of advice for entrepreneurs as an athlete? NO: I feel like I’m still learning. Fortunately, I learned for a short period of Kobe [Bryant]. But all you care about is an opportunity, and there is no such thing as a stupid question, when you are in meetings. Most of the time, people expect the athletes do not really lead to the product. Just expect you to be a figurehead. However, the new generation is to become truly involved, try to be investors. MW: I think it’s drugs. To live in this world, it’s now all about creativity. Instagram and YouTube are huge: I see many athletes to do it. But NCAA currently has paid for the restrictions on student athletes for it, so I think it is useful that the NBA has made that option G League [to allow players to skip college and join a development league]. Now you can have a backup, or you can Multitasking: You are able to play in the league, and being an influencer for more and be paid a different way. They have no general advice for young athletes? NO: There will be times it’s really hard. But what makes a champion is how to push through those moments. As long as you go again and again at the end of the day, you will be proud of what you have done. Moderated by Andrew R. Chow
