Amid the chaos rich news that is the Electronic Entertainment Expo – or E3 for short – caught on with Doug Bowser, president of Nintendo of America. (Yes, that is her real name.) Our conversation followed a full day for Nintendo, which on Tuesday announced a sequel to the popular The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the game and revealed more details about Luigi’s Mansion 3 Animal Crossing: New Horizons and more. Unlike some of its competitors, but Nintendo has been tight-lipped when it came to hardware, with this year’s E3 instead focus on new games for its mobile platform console / hybrid switches. help to talk on the phone from the ground E3, discussed Bowser latest news from Nintendo, the company’s efforts to appeal to a wide range of readers, and how can face crisis and burnout to game developers. The following conversation was slightly modified for length and clarity. TIME: Tell me more about how the Nintendo E3 concerns us so far. Bowser: One thing that we really wanted to present was that we play for each type of player … with games like Pokémon Mansion 3 or sword and shield of Louis. These games really offer fun and unique game experiences. And then we also point out that, when connected to Nintendo switch, people can play their favorite games, but where and how they want. Overall, I think a message with Nintendo came directly over well. People have been commenting on the amount of the security, and the constant rate of content that are all the way this week with the introduction of Animal Crossing: early 2020 New Horizons is not just the content of Nintendo, but from our partners publishing, games like Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 or Wolfenstein: Young Blood or The Witcher 3 and indie content provider. TIME: first-party Nintendo games Many have an all-age touch to them – are either aimed at children, or at least suitable for children. But there are some, like Wolfenstein, Doom, and Alien: isolation that are not. How do you see the balance between trademark of Nintendo as seen fit for children, but also attract players who are not interested in this content? Bowser: One of our goals with Nintendo switch has from player to offer games for every type. This allows us to expand the installation base for the largest possible number of players. Yes, we have some great Nintendo content that is very familiar … but we also want to make sure that, when I say that we have content for all types of players that allow for the presentation of other genres and other artistic styles. In the end we want to be a Nintendo switch platform of choice, where we give the player the choice of what content they want to play, be it Nintendo content or content from other publishers. TIME: It was one of the titles at E3 this year streaming services, where processing takes place on a few servers and gameplay shines to the player via the Internet. Nintendo is interested in this concept? Bowser: In general, we think it’s really interesting to see what others are doing and what they are up to, and to consider how the video game experience based on new technologies may evolve. We are looking to these technologies and understand their capabilities and how they can contribute to the gaming experiences we desire with our IP and characters and environments. However, we also believe that, even at this point in Nintendo switching time provides very interesting and unique gaming experience. This is a very unique platform that you can play at home on the TV there, and immediately pull the pier and go with a portable mode, if this is a way to desktop or handheld mode, and further, that the game game going nowhere part. This statement is connected hardware with a catalog that is deep more than 2,000 games, is one of the reasons that the fans still opt Nintendo switch as the platform of choice. TIME: How do you want to keep the sales figures of the switch as the progress year? Bowser: If you were here, you would see. I mean that jokingly, but go when you point to the ground would see the enthusiasm for the content. The great games that lead to the Nintendo are intended switch this year a couple of purposes. One, owners still continue to change existing really busy … but it is also very important because we then bring new players for the platform. There are games like Pokémon sword and shield, bring new players to the platform. It ‘a good balance of the continuation of the proposal for the Nintendo switch value as a unique gaming device … and great games that are to communicate to the platform. These two messages that allow us to continue this momentum going forward to have. TIME: There have been some whispers E3 are that Nintendo is working on a new form of switch. Should we expect on that front this year no news? Bowser: Mr. Furukawa (Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa) mentioned in its financial E3 conference that would be all about the games and that we would not talk to the hardware, and this was definitely the case. It ‘was all about the games, and at this point we are no longer talking about new platforms or Nintendo switch extensions. We enter only in the third year of the Nintendo switches with strong momentum, and this is the focus here. TIME: With the switch, you get a console that works on are fine. But it is also another get 3DS mobile system. What is the fate of this system? Bowser: At this point we have no games on 3DS at this show to announce and in fact we do not really show here 3DS content because it is all about Nintendo switch. But our business continues 3DS well enough to do it. Retailers continue to support both the hardware and the software. And as long as there is no consumer demand for 3DS, we will continue to support. In fact, we believe it is an excellent entry point for young players is. A 2DS is $79 with a game of great value proposition for a young player coming into the ecosystem Nintendo. TIME: Get Back Let other trends at E3 this year, other gaming companies talk about Cross game where anyone could play on a PlayStation with someone on an Xbox. Nintendo will adopt similar technologies? Bowser: we are faced with every game that comes to the platform, and the correct form of gameplay to determine if it’s just, co-op, multiplayer or even cross-Player. We have some examples with our publishing partners cross-playability, and able to be the best that we can talk about is Fortnite. We will continue to look for opportunities when they present themselves, in particular by our publishing partners to be able to have that. We want people to be able to play the way they want to play, so it is always a consideration. TIME: What is making Nintendo developers of indie games to support? Bowser: We want to bring the best publishers and the best games on Nintendo switch, and that includes big “Nindie” games of our partners. We work closely with each partner – each partner a different need, of course, have the ability to build on generally available engines as a unit or as Unreal these indie publishers in generating content for the Nintendo switch allows, so we are with our publishing partners , depending on the job, they need to have is a point of view of development or a marketing point of view, to ensure that we are a platform of choice for them. This year alone there are some fun games on the floor. We Hollow Knight: Silksong, a new Super Lucky story, some really good games come from our development partners, in particular on the side of indie. TIME: One of our reporters recently talked to game developers stress in the industry, “Crunch”, so on and so on. What it is or what it can do to address these problems of Nintendo? Bowser: Nintendo in general, we emphasize the importance of work-life balance strictly. We want our employees to have this balance. We believe it is important because that is how we produce high quality games are able. This balance will bring high quality games. Therefore, it is important for us. We encourage people to take the right amount of vacation, enjoy the time out of the office with distant family, friends, community events, and so on. And I encourage the same in my business unit. It ‘s very, very important. TIME: You get the chance to play often? Bowser: I do not know, but enough. My biggest concern now is that such a strong lineup of games that we are launching this year, that if ever I have time to soak all go? At the moment I’m playing – I’m looking forward to my Switch – I’m still in deep dive Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe and try to get through the game. I’m kind of Completionist when it comes to platform. Cuphead play right now, it is provided by Cuphead in question – TIME: Good luck. Bowser: Oh my God. But it is such a great game, it’s demanding and tough, but hold back for more. And then I look forward Luigi Mansion third correction to the game June 12 The original version of this false declaration of history role Doug Bowser at Nintendo of America.
